NFL Fines Marshawn Lynch $75,000 for Media Silence

Giving the silent treatment to the media is going to cost Marshawn Lynch.

According to Pro Football Talk, the Seattle Seahawks' running back was fined $75,000 by the NFL for not talking to the media following the team's NFC title game win over the Green Bay Packers in January. The league reportedly gave Lynch notice Tuesday about setting up a hearing for the fine, the news of which is just now going public. The hearing will reportedly take place Thursday.

Although this $75,000 fine wasn't announced until now, ESPN did report that the NFL docked Lynch $20,000 for an obscene crotch-grabbing gesture after scoring a touchdown in that NFC title game and that more fines could follow after he skipped out on the media.

Pro Football Talk is also reporting that Lynch dropped his appeal for the obscene gesture fine, but will continue to appeal the media-silence fine.

Of course, Beast Mode's actions led up to the now-infamous phrase that he repeated during his media day obligation for Super Bowl XLIX. "I'm here so I won't get fined."
