Alicia Keys unveiled a sweet piece of poetry dedicated to her son on Wednesday (June 3) in honor of the ongoing Black Lives Matter movement.
Using the #blacklivesmatter hashtag, the star paired the poem with an adorable photo of five-year-old Genesis building a toy tower. My beautiful baby boy/ So curious and pure/ Yet SO clear about what you don’t want/ “NO!” you say with vigor/ When you don’t like something going on in your small but powerful 5-year-old-world," she wrote. "I hope that never changes/ I hope that inner strength and fire/ Never extinguishes/ And you never feel the sway to fit in/ Or be silenced."
Keys continued the stanza by sharing her hopes for her son's future: "I have a STRONG feeling you won’t/ That’s just not the fabric from which u came/ Look at you:/ Future architect, Builder, Mastermind, Wisdom keeper, Re-shaper, Change maker.../ My Beautiful Baby Boy/ You are unstoppable!!!"
At the bottom of the Instagram post, the singer directed fans to the link in her bio for ways they could "stay involved" in the fight for racial equity, including a map of protests happening around the country and resources including petitions to sign, organizations looking for donations and online voter registration.
